This February I’m sewing along with Male Pattern Boldness and a bunch of other talented seamsters. We’re all making men’s shirts. Mine is for my husband, and here’s a reflection on my efforts to sew well.

Today I turned to Susanne to get inspiration for the design of the shirt I’m going to make in the Sew-Along. Her top choice was to use this fabric for the face of the collar, the neck band, the cuffs, and the placket. In small pieces, it should have a cool abstract feel. Then the body of the shirt will be more of a neutral – maybe a gray/silver, black, or ivory? Since I will make a muslin first, I don’t have to have a firm design yet, but I would like to order the fashion fabric this week.
Looking at the pattern you are using, I would suggest the underside of the pocket flap in the abstract too!
