This April I’m sewing along with Sherry at Pattern~Scissors~Cloth. A bunch of other talented seamsters and I are all making coats following the construction methods used in ready-to-wear tailoring. Mine is a Burberry-inspired trench coat, and here’s a reflection on my efforts to sew well.

The Crescent skirt Sew-Along has started, and I’ve begun to follow Tasia’s instructions. But, I am excited to prove to myself that I’ll be able to juggle the skirt and not lose sight of the trench coat. In that vein, here’s a photo showing that the trench coat has a place of prominence in my sewing corner. It still looks more like loose fabric than a coat, but it’s ready for whatever’s next in the Ready-To-Wear Tailoring Sew-Along.
