This summer I’m sewing along with Ali at The Wardrobe, Reimagined; Alessa at Farbenfreude; Sarah at Rhinestones and Telephones; and a bunch of other talented seamsters. We’re all making summer essentials, and this post marks the beginning of the saga.
I’m clearly in Sew-Along withdrawal as I’ve just now committed myself to a summer-long Sew-Along – the Second Annual Summer Essentials Sew-Along. I’ll be sharing my summer sewing projects with Ali at The Wardrobe, Reimagined; Alessa at Farbenfreude; Sarah at Rhinestones and Telephones; and a bunch of other talented seamsters.
The three hosts laid out seven categories of summer wear:
- Poolside Pretties
- Clam Diggers & Co.
- Sweet and Sassy Skirts
- The Sundress
- Tees, Tunics, and Blouses
- Those Summery Nights
- Accessorize Me!
Though I joined late, the flexibility of this Sew-Along allows me to count the three summery items I’ve already made: the sun hat for my mom, the black-and-white satin organza Crescent skirt, and yesterday’s refashioned Sorbetto blouse. And, I imagine a few more summery items will be easy to come by. As you’ve already heard me say, I plan to make a maxi dress this summer, and I still have the fabric for those spring pants sitting around waiting to be cut. Hopefully this Sew-Along will give me the inspiration I need to complete those projects.
I do plan to keep fall sewing in mind, but it’s so much more fun to sew with a community than to follow my own arbitrary guidelines. Hopefully I can accomplish both over the next few months. Wish me luck! Or, better yet, join me?
