Summer Essentials Sew-Along: A Growing List

This summer I’m sewing along with Ali at The Wardrobe, Reimagined; Alessa at Farbenfreude; Sarah at Rhinestones and Telephones; and a bunch of other talented seamsters. We’re all making summer essentials.  Then during the month of August, I’m sewing along with Tasia at Sewaholic.net.  Another bunch of talented seamsters and I are all making her just-released Lonsdale dress, which happens to also be a summer essential – happy day!  Here’s a reflection on my efforts to sew well.

It’s official:  I’m adding two dresses to my to-make list for the Summer Essentials Sew-Along.

During July I’ll be making this maxi dress, which you’ve already heard about, in a playful mix of spring Pantone colors.

Then during August I’ll be making a Lonsdale dress in deep teal from the fall Pantone for the Sewaholic.net Lonsdale Sew-Along.  I added the Nanette Lapore dress since my fashion fabric choice was inspired by the fabulous sketch.

Everything’s already on hand or been ordered, so now it’s only a matter of getting started.   The first step is to make a toile to get the correct fit and length for the maxi dress.  Okay, go!

  1. I have a gajillion other summer project ideas I’m still juggling, but when I saw the sewaholic dress which you posted about earlier, I almost dropped them all. It’s really the perfect summer dress, isn’t it? I couldn’t pre-order in time but picking out my fabric already!

    1. Hi Amy! You should definitely get involved in the Lonsdale dress Sew-Along. It’ll be fun to sew with you again. Your eye for design is wonderful.

  2. Oooooh, these are going to be lovely! Two fabulous dresses. Tasia keeps hitting it out of the park with her patterns. I keep waiting for it to get hot enough to wear some of my summer lovelies. Where are you in the bay? I’m in Oakland. 🙂

    1. I’m down the Peninsula, not too far from the city, but across the bay from Oakland. I’ve seen a few other seamsters in your area on BurdaStyle. Do you guys know of each other and ever meet up? Also, thanks for hosting this Sew-Along. I’m really thankful to have an outlet for sharing my sewing and getting inspired by other’s sewing.
