The unicorn blanket is finally finished – just in the nick of time. The baby shower is two days away.
After the last post, I picked up some white yarn with a bit of sparkle and crinkle from my local craft chain store, thanks to the suggestions of gingermakes and Tanit-Isis. It wasn’t the sparkliest of the bunch, but it was meant for babies, and I figured it was worth a bit less sparkle for something guaranteed to be baby friendly.
Then, it took forever to stitch the mane. The yarn didn’t want to thread through the needle, and the needle didn’t want to go through the minky. But, the unicorn and I persevered.
And, I’m glad we did. The mane and tail take the blanket from a cute unicorn-rhinocerous thing to a true unicorn. Perfect for a baby with a room full of magic and fairies.
I have another baby shower next weekend. Here’s to hoping I can find a bit more time between now and then to make another blanket. This time I’m thinking puppy…
Amy, this is painfully cute! I love it! The little ones in your life sure are lucky! 🙂
Thanks! Let’s hope the puppy will turn out just as well.
Also, I love your new header!
Thank you! I haven’t had any time to sew lately, but I needed to put some creativity somewhere – so it went into a redesign.
Oh, it looks so cute! I think the yarn is perfect—I’m so sorry it was such a beast to sew on, though!
I just need to get myself the right kind of needles. I have so many that were left to me by my grandmother that I just can’t bring myself to buy new ones.
So sweet. How blessed you are to have so many children to love. And I love the new logo–the type is great.
Thanks! I have found myself surrounded by lots of lots of kids lately. It seems to be that season – everyone’s having kids! As for the type, thanks! I combined three different fonts, and I’m very happy with the result.
Waaay cute! What a fun gift.
