Tuesdays with Gertie: Thread Tracing Your Muslin Pieces

This year I’m sewing along with Gertie from Gertie’s New Blog for Better Sewing. A bunch of other talented seamsters and I have joined up through the Craftsy online community to make perfectly fitted bombshell dresses. Here’s a reflection on my efforts to sew well.

This week marks the third week in a row to make a bit of progress on the bombshell dress.  I followed along with the third video, cutting out the bodice pieces in muslin and thread tracing them.

Tread tracing means running a line of stitches along each stitch line. You continue stitching beyond each corner; no pivoting allowed.

I left some pretty awful tread tails. We will see if those come back to haunt me next week…
