Hello from Seattle!
Whew, what a crazy couple of weeks its been. It feels like I’ve been living in the chaos that is moving for ages. Thankfully, a bit of order is finally returning. The boxes are slowly disappearing, the furniture has settled into a reasonable arrangement, and the sewing area has been set up. Sewing has even been happening! In fact, I’m breaking in my new sewing space with a pretty piece from Liberty of London!
But, this apartment is somehow much smaller than our last, even though it’s supposedly a two-bedroom apartment with more square footage. As each box has been unpacked, anything that hasn’t been used recently has been repacked for giving away and moved to the porch. I get weird attachments to stuff, but I keep telling myself that less stuff will mean less clutter, and less clutter will mean less chaos. The hardest part has been the fact that I now have about a quarter of the closet space that I had before. So many clothes have had to end up in boxes on the porch, destined for new homes. Not to mention that I’m going to have to keep culling as I continue sewing. I guess it’s a good habit to get into – one thing in, one thing out. I hope my neighborhood thrifters will be as appreciative of my old clothes and household appliances as Macklemore is of his footie pajamas and broken keyboard.
Anyway, I’ve got a lot to catch up with here on the blog, and I’m hoping now that moving tasks are slowing down, my little spot on the internets will become a lively place again. I have meet ups to tell you about, reviews and giveaways in the works, and new garments on their way. Exciting times here in Seattle!
Welcome to Seattle!
Yay! Another crafty blogger in Seattle!
Glad to see you’re settling in…I know that moving can be very stressful!
All the best in your new city! I am sure once you settle in to your new place you will find more ways of creating space. How exciting lots of new places to explore and inspiration to be found!
beautiful material!
Yay! I’m in week two/three of moving and already it is feeling like forever. I can’t wait til I get back to sewing like you have! We’ll miss you in the Bay Area!
Glad to hear it’s settling down! This apt living is temporary, right? Larger accommodations are in your future… 😀
I love that video, the message, and thriftiness. My friend one time told me if I am sentimental about objects/things then I am ‘semi-mental’. I like that state! And I hope the chaos of the move ends soon.
Welcome! Now get thee to Le Panier. The pastries will make everything better 🙂
You are inspiring me to let some more stuff go too! I have been doing a three out one in for my stash and a one to one w clothes but am ready to be more aggressive. Goodbye, stuff! Let someone else enjoy it. Maybe you will see it later featured in another Macklemore video. ; )
🙂 Welcome To Seattle!
Welcome to Seattle!
Incidentally, Macklemore is local as well. So those thrift shops in his video? Best I can tell, they’re all around here.

Congrats on your move! A purge always feels good. I’ve had a pretty small closet for a year now and I think it’s good! I make better purchases – fabric, yarn and clothing – knowing space is valuable.
I’m still not sick of Thrift Shop. SO CATCHY.
Welcome to Seattle!
Welcome to Seattle! Hope to meet up someday!
welcome, and good luck as you settle in! what a lovely liberty piece to break in your sewing space with!
Congratulations on your new home Seattle. All the best!!!
I’m so glad you’re settling in! It’s so hard to downsize, though, but it’s a good chance to get rid of some of the stuff that you’ve accidentally accumulated.
Yay, you made it safely to the other side! Although I’m sad to have missed meeting up with you one more time, I’m glad to hear that Seattle is working out for you (minus the closet space). Looking forward to hearing more from you!
How nice to be settling in to your new life in Seattle!
Welcome to Seattle! We have a very large and active ASG here and I understand there are some meet up groups and a Burda sewing group. Unfortunately, we don’t have the same fabric resources as you are used to. Beautiful piece of liberty. Glad to hear you are getting settled. g
I feel ya, girl. We finally finished moving and half of it was figuring out how to move stuff that had once fit into twice as much space (and 3 times as much closet space). For the first time in my life, I had to give away sewing stuff to goodwill. It just didn’t fit anymore! But I’m glad you are feeling settled finally; moving stinks!
