The WordPress-generated falling snow has reappeared on my blog, which serves as a good reminder to busy ol’ me that the holiday season is upon us. In the blog-y blog world this season is often highlighted by lots of crafty and selfless sewing… and lots of giveaways!
And, guess what?! The same is going on over here!
I’m excited to announce a pretty awesome giveaway that I’ve been putting together behind the scenes in collaboration with SA Curve. One lucky reader will get a SA Curve Mini & Pattern Drafter in a size of the reader’s choice (5/8″, 3/8″, 1/2″, or 1.5 cm) and an EZ wheel in either inches or metric, again as per the reader’s choice. That’s a complete set of curves and measuring devices for almost any pattern manipulation you could want to do.
I actually have both the 5/8″ and 3/8″ rulers, and I use them quite a bit. I like the 5/8″ rulers for marking stitching lines on commercial patterns, and I like the 3/8″ ruler for marking seam allowances on patterns that come with only stitching lines, like BurdaStyle patterns. I only have the measuring wheel that measures off inches, but I find it incredibly useful for walking seams and for comparing armscye to armhole measurements. If you’re unfamiliar with these invaluable sewing notions, I’ve written two reviews on them: one on the rulers and one on the measuring wheel.
I’m so excited to know that one of you will be starting off your 2014 with the ability to measure and mark anything and everything on your patterns thanks to these rulers. If you’d like to be entered into the drawing, just leave a comment below letting me know. I’ll pick a winner at random next Thursday, December 19th at 7 am PST.
[Cue my best infomercial voice…] But, wait, there’s more! You can currently save 20% off on anything and everything in the SA Curve Etsy Shop through the end of December using the coupon code SEWWELL20 or HOLIDAY20. If you’ve always actually wanted the EZ Pocket and EZ Shirtmaker (something I would have liked when I made my husband’s shirt recently!) or if you want to subtly mention to your loved ones that they can save money on a wonderful little sewing gift for you or if you aren’t excited about taking your chances in the giveaway and want to just go ahead and get yourself a nice stocking stuffer, you should definitely take advantage of the sale.
So, go forth and sew well thanks to SA Curve!
Oh I like the snow..No white christmas here in Sydney, Aus I am afraid – just sun sun sun. Oh and the humidity..yuck
Anyway.. put my my name down in the draw. Been looking at these as I have currently been using a lot of patterns that are in imperial and these would be handy..
Keep well.

Wow! Great rulers! I would like those, they look great! If I win I would like them in Metric.
Oooh…I’d love to win this prize. I’ve been eyeing the 5/8″ curve ruler. The pattern wheel is an added bonus.
Oh, I’ve been wanting one of these ever since I first saw them on your blog, but I can’t currently afford them. ):
Thanks for the chance to win!
Hi Amy, I’ve been looking at getting a set of these rulers for a while now, so your giveaway has come just at the right time!!! Please put me in the draw and thanks very much.
Helen
Oh what a great giveaway …thank you for the chance …
I actually bought a ruler based on your review and love it. It is my go-to ruler when working with patterns. SA Curve provides excellent service. Thanks for the chance to win.
I’d love to be entered in the giveaway! I have been eyeing the measuring wheel for a while now. 🙂
They look fantastic!! Please enter my name and thanks for such a lovely opportunity.
Thank you for the giveaway. Please count me in.
I hope you have a girl…so you can sew beautiful dresses matching mommy :)!
I have the 5/8 ruler and I love it! I’ve been thinking about getting the 3/8 in and the measuring wheel. I would love to wn them.
Oh wow, I just realized your blog is snowing!! I have two of the original rulers by SA Curve, but haven’t been able to justify purchasing the newer versions….yet. Definitely going on my Christmas wish list. I think the shirtmaker would also be excellent and am adding it to my list as well.
Great giveaway . . . thanks for the opportunity.
Would love to be in your giveaway. Would love to win, thanks.
I can see these being immensely helpful while working towards my fashion design & construction certificate. I recently started in on my first original design & have been thinking how much easier adding seam allowences would be with one of these (especially on curves!) than with your basic straight clear ruler.
Ooh! pick me! I would especially love the measuring wheel for measuring armscye/armholes, that sounds brilliant!
How wonderful! Thank you Amy! I’d love the 5/8 and imperial! Thanks a million for the opportunity!
It is 11 degrees this morning in upstate NY and plenty of white stuff on the ground. I would love the 5/8. Thank you!
Either sounds like an interesting addition to my 2014 sewing projects, in Imperial of course! Thank you!
I have the 3/8″ pattern drafter and would love the mini or the 5/8. Thanks for the great reviews and thanks for allowing me to enter the giveaway.
How lovely. Yes, I would like to be entered in the drawing please – I’m looking forward to ‘upping my game’ in sewing this year.
Thanks for the great drawing !!!! Just getting back into garment sewing & I’ve been eyeing these rulers !!!
How generous! Please add my name to the growing list of “I’d love to win these!”
This is a wonderful give away…please enter me in it. I think they’d be really useful in my plans to develop some well-fitting TNT patterns this year!
The rulers look very helpful. I would love to win.
What a great giveaway. I’ve been wanting some of these!
I’m tweaking the pattern pieces for trousers at the moment and these would be terribly useful! Good luck everyone.
Thanks, Amy, for this opportunity to win a great prize. Please enter my name and also, I think it’s a BOY!!!!
These seem so cool– please add me to the giveaway! Adding a seam allowance with a regular straight ruler takes sooooooo long!
Those would be just fabulous tools to have! Also, love the blog snow. We don’t get snow, just cold.
Ooh, those look like they’d be so handy! Especially for Burda pattern tracing. The blog snow is really cute!
These would be perfect, since I just started venturing into burda… why can’t they just add seam allowances???
what a great give away! I wish I could win! here in Italy is is impossible to find similar rulers.
What a neat tool to use. I would love to have something to mark 5/8 seam allowances. My estimating doesn’t work a lot of the time. And the blog snow. We have several inches right now; I wish it were only on the blog sometimes. I hate shoving snow.
I saw the “snow” on other blogs and wondered how it was done – so now I know! I could really use those tools with my pattern alterations. Thanks for the chance to win them.
Merry Christmas
Yes, yes, I want to enter! These rulers seem so useful! I would use them exactly for what you are using them for.
What a superb giveaway! I am just beginning an online drafting course and would *love* to have these rulers in my sewing toolbox! Happy Festive season to you and to your followers – and thank you to the sponsors, also, for the generous giveaway opportunity.
I would love to be entered! I’ve become adept at marking seam allowances with a gauge, but I have a feeling these are some of those tools that make you wonder how you could have lived so primitively before. Happy holidays!
Awesome giveaway! I’ve been wanting to try these rulers out for awhile now. Thanks!
Oh yes, please enter me too! I’ve been yearning for the nifty SA rulers and wheel every since I first saw them.
What an awesome ruler! I would totally use the 3/8″ or the 5/8″ a lot. I currently use two pencils taped together and it works but not that great.
Happy Holidays snowy blog!
Wow. These look so handy!
And a Merry Christmas to you, lovely lady, 🙂
Oooh, awesome rulers! I’d probably get the 5/8″ one, though I actually use 1/2″ seam allowances a lot. Decisions, decisions!
OOHHHH! I would so love one of the rulers! They look absolutely amazing!
These rulers look like they would save so much time and make marking seam allowances easier. I would use the 1/2 or 5/8″ . Thanks for the discount code.
What a great giveaway! I hardly ever use curved rulers; I actually feel like I have more design control when I do free-hand curves. HOWEVER, I really hate adding seam allowances, especially to curves. I mean, who doesn’t?! So, I would absolutely love one of these beauties.
Also, the blog snow is adorable!
Oh, I would love these! And I haven’t forgotten about a fabric trip- as soon as I can shake this stupid cold, I’ll email you 🙂
I would be so excited to win. I never win anything, but maybe this time????
I have been wanting to try out these rulers for quite a while- what a great giveaway! Merry Christmas!
Thank You for the giveaway! I would love to win these (in metric).
And Happy Holidays!
I would be most excited to own one of these great rulers. I think having one would make tackling some of the patterns in my stack of Burda much more appealing!
Oh I have been lusting after those rulers for the longest time! Thanks for hosting the giveaway!
These would really be useful with my new book!
I would love to have one of those tools, especially the wheel (really, sometimes I think that I get more pleasure out of using my patternmaking rulers and tools than of seeing my garment finished). Thanks for the giveaway!
I would love to add theses to my collection of useful sewing tools!
Hi Amy, I would love to be entered in your drawing — thanks so much for the giveaway — love reading your blog!
Sounds wonderful! They look incredibly helpful….
Ooooh, fancy! Count me into the drawing 🙂 Thanks, Amy!!
I’ve seen these reviewed positively by a few different bloggers. Please enter me!
Please enter me in the drawing. I am just beginning to figure out how to fit patterns and I need all the help I can get!
Desperately need this! I’ve got a stack of Burda magazines but adding the seam allowances always freaks me out!
Pick me! Pick me!
These would be so useful! I think I’ll buy a set if I don’t win. Thanks for the giveaway and discount!
Those templates look amazing–thanks for the discount code! I usually add my seam allowances by eye as I cut my Burdas, but being more accurate would definitely be a good thing!
what a great giveaway …thank you 🙂 i would really LOVE them
Thank you for a great giveaway! I would LOVE a chance to win.
What a fantastic giveaway, thanks for the chance to win. I mainly sew with Burda pattern magazines so this would be so handy to have.
OOH, please add me to the giveaway
Hope my number comes up, I would love to win these great tools!
These look handy! Also love the snow!
I would love to win a metric set – they are awesome tools 🙂
Count me in! Thank you so much for having this giveaway!
All the best!
Oh the patterns I would try if only I didn’t have to add seam allowances. Thanks.
I would love to be entered in this drawing! These would be so handy.
I’ve had one of these on my wishlist for age now, I’d love to be entered into the draw. Thanks!
Merry Christmas from Oklahoma, USA. We still have snow on the ground, over a week, which is rare. I want to win. crystalbluern at onlineok dot com
What a great giveaway. Between adding seam allowances and all of the times I skip the much needed FBA, this would be a great win for me.
Count me in, too! Thank you!
I would like to add those rulers to my sewing tools!! They look soo handy!!
Awesome, I’d love to be entered in the contest!
Ooo- I have a curved ruler on my list! Would love to be entered! Thanks!
I’ve needed one of those rulers for a long time, but never remember to buy one. Thanks!
I would love to be entered in the drawing, please. Thanks for giving us this opportunity.
I would LOVE to win!
Hi Amy! Thank you for hte lovely giveaway, I would love to enter!
Hi Amy:
Please enter my name for your drawing.
Oh wow please enter me in the draw!
Thank you so much for this Christmas opportunity. I would love to be entered in the drawing. Have a happy holiday.
These tools sound wonderfully useful. Please, add my name to the giveaway.
By the way, welcome to Seattle. I am on Bainbridge. You may already know this, but the oldest fabric store in the state, Esther’s, is on the island. Even though it’s small, the quality and variety of both apparel and quilting fabric is exceptional. Well worth a trip over, and it’s walking distance from the ferry.
Chris
I would love to win a set! Thanks for the chance!
Yes please can I be in the draw. These would be so handy and in two different sizes, perfect. Thanks xx
Thank you for a chance to win a step up on my sewing projects!
Hello from the other side of the sound! I’ve been following your blog for just a few weeks, so welcome to Seattle(although I’m actually on Bainbridge Island).Glad to see you met Maris and joined ASG! I’ve been a member for years, the retreats are fantastic as are the educational events. Anyhoo, I enjoy your posts and I too just picked up knitting again. your blog also inspired me to finally start one of my own!
Ooh I’d love to be entered please! Thanks for a great giveaway, I’ve been coveting one of these for ages!
I would love the opportunity to win! Thanks so much!
I would love to be included in the drawing 🙂
Include me too! That tool is absolutely fab! 🙂
I’ve been seeing these curves everywhere! I used to have a French curve, but it has disappeared (I suspect one of my kids broke it and got rid of the evidence). These new curves with the seam allowance built in would be so useful!
What a great giveaway. Thanks for hosting it!
I would like yet another notion! Win. Win. WIn. LOL
Thank you for sponsoring the give-away! I’d love to be considered, they look like excellent tools.
Ooooh! What a cool giveaway…. I’d love to join in the draw a well!
cs19647 AT (yahoo) DOT (com)
I would love to win!
What great tools!
Fun Fun! These look like a great alternative to the piece of bent wire I use for similar alterations.
Great prize! 5/8 ruler would be fab, thanks so much 🙂
Thank you for offering this giveaway! Please enter me in the drawing. I mostly sew with Burda magazine patterns so these would prove extremely useful for me. I know I’m old school but I mostly still add 5/8″ seam allowances to all my patterns except necklines.
How generous, I would love the 3/8 one if I win.
Ooh, I’m in. Please pick me! What a great idea hosting a giveaway at this time of year
Yay! What and awesome giveaway. I’d love to be entered 🙂
I’m pretty sure I could make use of this. Put my name in the hat.
Wow, great giveaway. I’d love the ruler set in 3/8″ and the measuring wheel in inches.
Please enter me. I’ve never seen these things before except on your blog, but I find the curve ruler I got from sew easy invaluable, especially for alterations. I like to work in imperial for my own patterns, especially as my machine and equipment almost all pre-date metrication (in this country, anyway), but mostly of the time I’m using BurdaStyle patterns, so I guess it doesn’t make that much difference. It isn’t hard to convert between them, so I don’t mind which one I get.
Ooh great giveaway! I’m new to clothes sewing after being (and continuing to be) a quilter for 12 years. Pardon the pin but it’s a learning curve!!!
Thanks,
Abbe
Thanks for the great giveaway. Anything that can help me reach the goal of making more professional looking garments would be terrific.
Excellent giveaway! Thank you.
I have had my eyes on these so thanks for putting together a great giveaway.
I would love to win those rulers. I’ve recently begun to draft my own patterns and those would be extremely helpful. BTW, thanks for the reviews!
How kind of you to do this, I have been thinking of buying these myself.
I’d love this! Thanks for the giveaway!
Such a useful giveaway, thank you!
What a wonderful prize! Please enter me in your contest. Thank you for your blog.
I loved your review of the measuring wheel and the rulers. maybe that will be the answer to accurate measuring!
What a generous giveaway! I would love to be entered.
I’d love to be entered into this giveaway, please. I’ve got these rulers on my wish list but I’ve been reliably informed that Santa isn’t bringing sewing presents this year…the old meanie! 😉
I’d love to be included in the drawing, thank you! Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you!
I just got the 3/8 and 5/8 rulers and would love to have these other tools!
Oooh – I wanna win!
Pick me!
A great giveaway! I too have been eyeing up the 5/8″ curve ruler. The pattern wheel sounds so useful too! Thank you very much x
Wow, what an awesome giveaway. I always need more sewing goodies!
And WP can keep the snow. We have more than enough here in Canada!
